What does human-grade dog food really mean?

Nowadays the pet food industry offers a variety of options and diets for our furry friends. From kibble to wet food the options seem endless. To add to the confusion you have terms like “grain-free”, “all natural” and now all the buzz about “human-grade”.

Don’t worry though, we are here to breakdown what “human-grade” means. As you have probably gathered from the name “human-grade” pet food refers to food that is fit for human consumption. Although that is true, there is more to the definition.

Human-grade dog food is currently a loose term to describe food that is edible for people, however the term can be misleading, since the the terms “human-grade” or “human-quality” have no real legal definition.

For a product to be truly human-edible, all of the ingredients within the product must be human-edible, and the product also must be manufactured, packaged and held in accordance with certain federal regulations. When all of those conditions are met together in one item, then a product can be labeled as “human-grade.”

When you feed your pet TukkaMate you can rest assured knowing that we create our meals using real, fresh ingredients. We have not only tested our product on a variety of different dogs and gotten their paws of approval but our founder, Brooke Mason, has tried it herself alongside her three dogs.

TukkaMate is the real deal when it comes to being human-grade and there is no false marketing when it comes to our food. What you see, is what you get with TukkaMate!
